  1. IS RAFTING SAFE?
White water river rafting involves taking certain risks; this is what makes it so exciting. There are a number of things that GIO does to minimize this risk. Safety is paramount at GIO. It begins when you call our office. We'll help you select a trip that matches your experience and abilities. We are licensed by the Department of Tourism, Uttaranchal. Our guides are professionally trained in river safety, river rescue, first aid, and CPR. Before every trip we have a safety orientation and outfit you with a Personal Floatation Device and helmet.

Many of our guides raft year round. They have all run class II to class V water and are experts at not only running the river, but at making your day trip or camping expedition a memorable event. We are proud of our excellent safety record.

  2. WHICH TRIP IS BEST FOR ME, MY GROUP OR MY FAMILY?
When you call GIO and speak with the staff, we will ask you questions about your group, the ages, experience level and about what you are expecting in a white water rafting trip. We will then determine what we think the water levels will be at the time of your trip and make the best recommendation possible. Our goal at GIO is to see that you and your group have the best and safest possible river rafting trip that we can offer.

  3. DO WE HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO SWIM?
You do not have to swim to go river rafting! Life jackets are worn at all times on the river and are designed to float you face up. The guides instruct you before the trip on what to do in the small chance (more likely on higher adventure trips) you fall in the river.
