Q.	Where are the GIO camps located? How can we get there?
A.	GIO has three permanent and two seasonal multi-activity camps, situated in picturesque locations in the hills. Each of these camps offers a unique range of adventure activities which your entire family can enjoy.

	All our camps are easily accessible and well-connected by rail & road from Delhi and other major north Indian towns via Haridwar and Dehradun. We provide you with all instructions and map-details. Transport to and from the camps can be arranged on request.
Q.	My child is very young-can I still come down for a holiday with you?
A.	We encourage you to bring along young children, their delight as they discover new surroundings will add to your experience. Our camps are well equipped to meet the special needs of families with infants and very young children and our friendly staff will have all of you feeling comfortable in no time. So, you don't have to worry about sterilizing those feeding bottles for the baby-and if you feel the urge, just walk into our kitchen and dictate the recipe for the little one's meals. However, very young children may not be able to participate in some of the adventure activities offered in the camps. We also offer discounts on accommodation provided to any domestic staff accompanying you on the trip.
Q.	What kind of accommodation can I expect at your camps?
A.	Accommodation at all our camps is in well-equipped Swiss cottage tents, while our permanent camps at Jayalgarh, Chakrata and Kund have attached toilets with running water, the seasonal camps at Moori and Juddo have dry pit toilets. We pay special attention to hygiene and comfort and ensure attention to details like the provision of clean linen. Our kitchens are well stocked and we have expert chefs who will be more than willing to comply with any special requests at mealtimes. GIO follows a strict responsible tourism policy, so we pay special attention to protecting the environment and controlling pollution. We ensure that our camp facilities do not damage the eco-system.
Q.	What about first aid and medical emergencies?
A.	Our instructors and trek-guides at all the camps are trained to administer first-aid and hold certificates in first-aid and CPR. We carry well stocked first-aid boxes at all times to deal with any situation that may arise while taking part in the outdoor activities. Besides this, keeping in mind the needs of our family clients, we have tie-ups with doctors near our camps who will be on call to provide any medical assistance should the need arise.
Q.	What kind of food do you provide? Is milk available at your camps?
A.	We serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals. We have expert chefs and a team of well- trained kitchen staff at all our camps who can serve up a wide range of cuisines to tempt even the most jaded palettes. From mouth-watering deserts to hot and cold beverages and sumptuous cocktail snacks-we serve the best. And yes, all our camp kitchens are well stocked with milk and fresh vegetables and fruits.
Q.	Any special clothing and equipment we need to carry with us?
A.	Our camps are well equipped but you do need to carry a few certain things for your personal requirement. A detailed list is given below, but this may vary according to the trip you choose and the time of year. Our team will further provide you with all specific details before you leave for your trip.

Q.	What are the outdoor activities we can take part in? Are they safe?
A.	We offer a wide range of outdoor activities for suitable for participants of all ages. From tailor made family treks to adventure sports in our camps, you'll find something to suit everyone. All activities are performed under safety guidelines for children, and under expert supervision. All our instructors and guides are trained in premier mountaineering and adventure-sport establishments. We use top of the line equipment for all activities and have ample first-aid emergency support.

Rappelling and rock climbing

Rappelling also known as absailing is an activity which gives you a real taste of adventure. It involves descending down a rock surface by sliding down a rope in a controlled manner. The equipment used for this is a harness, a locking carabineer and a belay device. The use of the belay rope makes this activity extremely safe and the rope is fed through the belay to increase friction and control the rate of descent. The minimum age of participants for this activity is 8 years.

Rock climbing is the act of ascending rock formations using gear and safety equipment specifically designed for the purpose. This is another activity that promises a lot of fun and thrills for the entire family. The use of a harness and belay rope make this activity absolutely safe and easy even for people with no experience in outdoor adventure activities. The minimum age to participate in rock climbing is 8 years.

Bridge-slithering

Bridge slithering is an activity which involves descending down from a bridge using a rope and harness. This is fast evolving into a popular sport. Bridge slithering is ideal for those of you looking for an adrenalin rush. Our experts are there to guide and support you throughout the event, making this activity safe and easy for first timers. The minimum age of participants for bridge slithering is 12 years.

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is the sport of riding bicycles off-road on specially chosen trails. This activity is a great way of getting acquainted with nature, together as a family, while experiencing all the thrills of an outdoor sport. The trails are chosen keeping in mind the age and endurance levels of our clients and we have our vehicles and guides accompanying you throughout the trails. We use top of the line bicycles and safety equipment like helmets and knee and elbow pads used for mountain biking, keeping your comfort and safety in mind at all times. The minimum age for this activity is 10 years.

White water rafting and Body surfing

Rafting or whitewater rafting is a recreational activity utilizing a raft to navigate a river or other bodies of water. This is usually done through different degrees in order to thrill and excite the raft passengers. For our family clients we choose very mild and gentle stretches of water making it safe and fun for people of all ages. Special attention is paid to safety standards and life-jackets and helmets are provided to all are passengers. The development of this activity as a leisure sport has become popular since the mid 1970s. The minimum age of participants for rafting is 8 years.

Hiking / Day picnics

Hiking or cross-country trail walking is a fun way of viewing the scenery and getting acquainted with nature. The trails are specially chosen to ensure that this activity can be enjoyed by all members of the family and you can set your own pace at your comfort. This activity is a delight for children as it allows them to experience the joy of walking in and exploring natural su rroundings. We organize day picnics for you, giving you the chance to spend time bonding with your family away from all stresses of the city life.

Kayaking

Kayaking is delightful outdoor activity where the kayaker sits in the bottom of the boat or kayak with the legs extended forward. The kayak has a half- closed cockpit and the kayaker uses a two blade paddle to navigate. This activity teaches you how to balance your body and is a great learning experience for people of all ages. We offer introductory lessons for our family clients on gentle waters to introduce you to this popular sport. The minimum age to participate in kayaking is 12 years.

Summary of package

7 Days/6 Nights (Camp High 5 & Camp Verdant Valley)
Day 1:	Arrive in Camp High 5 for lunch. Post lunch, a short HIKE followed by RAPPELLING in the surrounding jungle. Return to the camp in the evening for bonfire and dinner by the riverside.
Day 2:	Post breakfast, drive to Srinagar (12 kms) and from here RAFT down to the camp. During this trip, one would also get the opportunity to BODY SURF in the cool waters of the Alaknanda. Lunch at the camp followed by departure to Camp Verdant Valley in Kund (Drive/2.5 hrs). On arrival check into the camp and soak in the beauty of the surrounding forest with the snow clad Kedar peak in the background. In the night bonfire and dinner.
Day 3:	Post early breakfast, drive to Chopta (1 hr) and from here begin the TREK to Tungnath (3 hrs) and onwards to Chandrashilla Peak (1.5 hrs). All along the way you would be passing through undulating bugyals (high altitude meadows) and would have the spectacular views of the snow clad Himalayas for company. For those who make it to Chandrashilla Peak, the 180 degrees view of the Himalayan peaks is well worth the trek!!! Return to Chopts towards late afternoon and from here get back to the camp. Overnight at the camp.
Day 4:	Post breakfast, drive to Sari (45 mins) and from here TREK to the high altitude lake, Deoriatal (2-3 hrs). Once you reach the lake you could explore the surroundings or just laze by the banks of the lake. Return to Sari in the afternoon and from here drive back to the camp. Enroute visit UKHIMATH TEMPLE, the winter seat of the Kedarnath deity. Overnight at the camp.
Day 5:	Post breakfast, depart for Camp High 5 (Drive/2.5 hrs). Once you have checked in you would go for another RAFTING trip on the Alaknanda. Return to the camp in the evening for bonfire and dinner by the riverside.
Day 6:	In the morning a briefing and practice session of MOUNTAIN BIKING in the camp. Depending on the comfort factor of the group, we would then take you to a location close to the camp for a thrilling downhill biking ride. Return to the camp and relax by the riverside. In the night, bonfire and dinner by the riverside.
Day 7:	Post breakfast, depart for Haridwar (Drive/4 hrs).

Summary of package

7 Days/6 Nights (Camp Room-on-the-Roof & Camp Mystic River)
Day 1:	Arrive in Camp Room-on-the-Roof for lunch. Post lunch, a short HIKE followed by RAPPELLING & ROCK CLIMBING in the surrounding jungle. Return to the camp in the evening for bonfire and dinner.
Day 2:	Post breakfast, drive to Chakrata (1 hr) and from here trek down (2-3 hrs) to TIGER FALLS, one of the biggest waterfalls in the area. For those averse to trekking, you can drive ahead of Chakrata for an hour to get closer to the falls and from here walk down 30 mins to the falls. Spend the day here in the pool below the waterfall. Towards late afternoon, head back to the road (30 mins) and from here drive back to the camp. In the night, bonfire and dinner.
Day 3:	Post early breakfast, set out for Yamuna Bridge (Drive/1 hr). Here indulge in BRIDGE SLITHERING and RAFTING on the Yamuna. Post lunch, proceed from here towards Camp Mystic River in Mori (Drive/5-6 hrs). On arrival check into the camp and time permitting explore the area with a walk along the banks of the River Tons. In the night, bonfire and dinner by the riverside.
Day 4:	Start the day with a hot breakfast and then get ready for a briefing on rafting techniques followed by a RAFTING run on the Tons. Return to camp for lunch. Post lunch set off for RAPPELLING & ROCK CLIMBING on the superb rock faces around camp with our instructors. Bonfire and dinner at camp.
Day 5:	Post breakfast, set out for a full day HIKE with packed lunch. During the trek one would pass through a number of natural rock pools where you could bathe ands swim in the cool waters. Return to the camp towards the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6:	Post breakfast, another RAFTING run on the Tons to wrap up an adventurous holiday. Towards the afternoon, visit the Mahasu Devta temple in Hanol followed by KAYAKING in the calm waters of the river close to the camp. In the night, bonfire and dinner by the riverside.
Day 7:	Post breakfast, depart for Dehradun/Mussoorie or your onward destination.
