As the name suggests, lush green meadows cradle GIO’s Camp Verdant Valley. 140 km from Haridwar, the valley is thrust into motion by the mighty river Mandakini, lashing her anger at every obstacle, bestowed by the mighty Kedar (Shiva, the destroyer). She let’s her admirers raft and kayak, after one has come to terms with the overwhelming beauty that surrounds her.

Upon the first opportunity, one can sneak his way through the trails and watch the Kedar peaks. Further away, the bugyals (meadows) of Chopta invite the visitors to bathe in nature; it pumps enough adrenaline to make one trek to Chandrashila, and be enslaved by the splendor of the Kedar peaks. It’s that perfect love affair that one has been waiting for so long. The Chandrashila peak is the last step on route, taking one to an altitude of 4050 m.

CAmp FACILITIES

Accommodation: The camp provides accommodation in Large Luxury Swiss cottage tents ((12’ x 12’). Each tent has two cots with comfortable bedding and quilts. The tents have attached bathrooms with running water. The toilets are dry pit with western seats and are clean and convenient.

Food: The camp has a full-fledged kitchen that provides you with hot multi-cuisine meals apart from all the cups of tea / coffee you might want.

Tour Packages

Day 1: Arrive at the camp for lunch. Post lunch, explore the beautiful surroundings of the camp. In the afternoon, RAPPPELLING near the camp under the watchful eyes of our instructors. In the evening, drive/hike to the ancient temple at Ukhimath (1½ hrs hike/3 kms drive). In the evening enjoy a bonfire and dinner.

Day 2: After an early breakfast, drive to Chopta (40 kms) and from here trek to Tungnath (3½ kms). At an altitude of 3600 m, Tungnath temple is the highest Shiva shrine in the world. To reach Tungnath it will take about 2-3 hrs. On reaching this ancient temple enjoy the breathtaking views of some of the snow clad Himalayan giants. Packed lunch would be provided on the trek. Continue the trek to the summit of Chandrashilla Peak (1 km). Late afternoon, head back to Chopta and from there drive back to the camp for bonfire and dinner in the night.

Day 3: After breakfast, drive down to Jayalgarh (3 hrs), and here you could indulge in an exciting session of WHITE WATER RAFTING on the Alaknanda. Lunch at the camp following which you could continue on to your onward destination. OR For those averse to water activities, you could relax at the camp itself or you could set off on a trek to a high altitude lake – Deoriatal (2-3 hrs). The reflection of the Chaukhamba peak in the waters of this lake is worth traveling any distance to see!! Return to the camp for lunch and post lunch depart for your onward destination.

Day 3: After breakfast, pack up the campsite at Chopta and drive to Sari village (1 hr). From here trek to a high altitude lake – Deoriatal (2-3 hrs). The reflection of the Chaukhamba peak in the waters of this lake is worth traveling any distance to see!! Packed lunch enroute. Return to the camp towards late afternoon and relax here the rest of the day. In the night, bonfire and dinner by the riverside.

Day 4: After breakfast, drive down to Jayalgarh (3 hrs), and here you could indulge in an exciting session of WHITE WATER RAFTING on the Alaknanda. Lunch at the camp following which you could continue on to your onward destination.

Accommodation: In luxury tents, on twin-sharing basis. All tents are provided with cots, mattresses, etc. Each tent has an attached toilet & washroom. The toilets have running water facility and western seats.

Food: Veg / Non-Veg multi-cuisine meals (Indian, Chinese, Continental). Tea/Coffee & snacks to be served whenever required. All meals beginning with lunch on day 1 to breakfast on day 4 will be provided.

Activities & Sightseeing: River rafting, rock climbing, rappelling, hiking, kayaking, etc. and sightseeing trips to various places of interest around the camp.

Experienced instructors & modern equipment to ensure maximum safety.

By Road:The distance from Delhi to the camp is 410 kms and would take about 14-15 hrs. A vehicle could be arranged for the trip and would cost the following:

From Delhi drive towards Ghaziabad. Before Ghaziabad city take the highway towards Meerut. Before Meerut city take the Bypass to Muzaffarnagar. Do not enter Muzaffarnagar town and take the bypass towards Roorkee. Go past Roorkee to Haridwar continue towards Rishikesh. From Rishikesh take the Badrinath highway and drive towards Byasi – market place. Drive for another 6 km to reach Kaudiyala and continue till you reach Devprayag. From Devprayag continue to drive for 34 km to reach Srinagar (Gharwal) town. From Srinagar drive to Rudraprayag (34 km drive ). At Rudraprayag take the Kedarnath highway and drive past Tilwara and Agastyamuni. Another 16 km drive will bring you to Kund. At Kund take the Ukhmat route and drive for 2 km to reach camp Verdant valley.
