Camp Scraggy Mountain
Ladakh,
with altitude, seldom lower than 3000 meters has a reputation amongst
the travellers as the world's 'Last Shangri la'. The geography of
Ladakh is best described as that of a high altitude desert. Bound
by two of the highest mountain ranges in the world; the Himalayas
and the Karakorams, it seldom sees any rainfall.
Camp Scraggy Mountain is set in the backdrop of
the confluence of the mighty Indus and Zanskar rivers and is the
perfect base for a thrilling outdoor holiday in Ladakh. A verbal
description of the landscape would hardly do justice to its awe-inspiring
character. Ladakh is known for its barley fields and poplar trees
that grow in the depths of the valley amidst the barren mountain
ridges and the towering snow-clad peaks.
Apart from Rafting on the Indus the options available
to the outdoor enthusiast are many. These include Trekking, Hiking,
climbing, jeep safari's and culture trips.
The ethos of the people here is steeped in Buddhism
that can be seen in all walks of life. The land has many famous
monasteries to boast of like Lamayuru, Karsha and Thiksey to name
a few. What catches the visitors attention here are the countless
prayer wheels and millions of flags, fluttering in the thin air
symbolizing the spirit and zest for life of the people of this land.
Welcome to the land of "Jhulay". Say
the magical word with a smile and all doors open!
